Today at work a customer asked me how long I have been scrapbooking. I told her 21 years this month. (long story, but I know the exact day I became a scrapbooker!) As soon as I said it, it dawned on me that it is half of my life. Wow!! Funny to think that buying those first pair of deckle scissor back in July 1987 would change my life. Ok, maybe not change my life, but change how I look at life I guess.
I love...that I have the menu that I ordered breakfast from at Memorial Hospital 21 years ago after the birth of my first son, in his scrapbook.
...that I have a note from my middle son's kindergarten teacher from the first day of school, asking if I had survived the morning because I had left sobbing, because he was crying so hard as I left him, in his scrapbook.
...that I have on a piece of paper, the first time my youngest son wrote his name, with the "e" backwards, in his scrapbook.
...that I saved the parking stub from my visit to the doctors this past Wednesday, to put into this soon to be baby's scrapbook. (yes, I have already started one for her)
I guess you could say July is my Scrapbooking anniversary. 21 years and counting, of taking pictures of, journaling about, saving things from and remembering, the good things, the not so good things, and everything in between.
Here's to 21 more.
