This was made using all the left over scraps I had from my other projects.  I did a little machine sewing, along with the scraps, a cute sticker and my layout was complete!

{Dream Big}

Today I have a scrapbook layout to share that's not a traditional layout.

This was made with the July add-on kit from the Paper Bakery, and yes the vintage record was part of the kit!! I used the record like I would the base paper of a layout, and added the photos and embellishments directly to it.

I was happy when I showed it to Tucker and his first words were "wow Mom, that's the coolest thing you've ever made".  That's the best thing a scrapbooking Mom can hear from an 11 year old boy ;)

{Christmas in July!}

It's Christmas in July week over on the Imaginisce blog, using the new Christmas Cheer Collection.  Here are 2 of my layouts, I may or may not have had Christmas music playing while I was working on them ;)

I did some machine sewing and used a fun border punch. I also did a bit of fussy cutting and removed the word Merry from the Christmas die cut so it would work with Christmas eve cookies.

Next up, a layout using an old black & white.  You all know I love the old b & w's!!

Another fun border punch on this one, and I added a little piece of tinsel garland to the ornament.

I love that the Christmas Cheer collection works perfectly with my photos from 2010 just as well as they do as a photo from 1951.

{Cute as a Button}

I've been doing a little machine sewing lately on some of my layouts. For this one, I stitched around the 2 on the measuring tape sticker to highlight Gracie's age, and did a zig zag stitch around the button card.

I even did just a little hand sewing, and added these 4 buttons. I love the look! It adds just that little extra touch.  The funny thing is, I can't even remember the last time I actually sewed on something that wasn't paper. {grin}

{1952}

I'm just popping in to share another layout I made with the July add-on kit from the Paper Bakery. One more for the Jenkins side of the family history album.

It's been fun going through all the old photos and hearing the stories that go along with them. As I started working on this layout I saw something in the photo I had never noticed before. On the side of the house is a hand painted sign that says "sewing and ironing". Of course that led to a phone call to my Dad in-law to get the story behind it. I knew that my hubby's grandma was an excellent seamstress, but never knew she had her own little business doing ironing, alterations and custom design work back then. I love that it's one more story to hand down to the next generation.

{Everyday Inspiration}

It's "Everyday Inspiration Week" over on the Imaginisce blog, and I have some inspiration to share with you! Besides scrapbooking, I love to quilt. Well, since I've only made one quilt, you can't really say I quilt, but you can say I love to look at quilts. I am mesmerized by all the colors, patterns and designs. I like looking at quilt blogs too, which is where I found the inspiration for my layout. I love the part chevron/part arrow design that are both so popular in scrapbooking right now.

For my layout, I followed the arrow/chevron design and included some pictures from our getaway in Monterey.

I did a little machine stitching to add the arrows to my cardstock, then added the photos and the title.

This is the website where I found this beautiful quilt. Notice where her inspiration for the quilt came from?? A rubber stamp set! There are so many places to find inspiration for your layouts. Where have you found ideas for your scrapbooking??

{Music Man}

Here's a layout with an embellishment I had never used on a scrapbook page, until this one.

Yes, that is a real record!  The Paper Bakery July add-on kit actually has a vintage 45 as part of the kit. It was just perfect for these pics of my Dad in-law in high school. 

I wanted to use the record on the side of the layout, so I used a craft knife and a ruler to cut off several inches.  It took a few passes with the knife, but it cut right through! 

Oh, and remember a few months back I asked for prayers for my Mom in-law that had just been diagnosed with breast cancer.  Well, she was feeling good enough this past week to come visit for a few days! 

She is in between chemo treatments, so this was one of the weeks that she was feeling good. It was so nice to have them here!! There is still chemo and radiation to go, so prayers and positive thoughts are still appreciated. And yes, that's my Dad in-law that's on the record layout up there ;)

One of our vacation traditions is buying souvenir patches from each of the places we visit. They are fun to collect and make great embellishments on our vacation layouts.

{Mix & Match}

I've got a layout up over on the Imaginisce blog today for "Mix & Match Week" where I did a little mixing & matching of the Hippity Hip, Makin' Waves and Hello, Cupcake collections.  The bright colors work great with these neutral beach photos.

For the fun cloud strip, I punched clouds from the vellum, then machine stitched it along with the polka dot paper directly to the cardstock.

I can't believe these photos were taken almost 10 years ago!

{Idaho}

I'm still working on pics from our monthlong Yellowstone vacation (remember I took over 4,300 photos) so when I got my DT kit from the Paper Bakery, I was excited to see one of the treasures included in the July kit.

It's a vintage potato sack!!  How very fun to use it on a layout!

Yesterday I shared a project I have in the July issue of GCD Studios magazine "The Paper Cut", and today I have one more to share! 

Here's the sketch I used, my assignment was to keep the sketch the same. 

I did use 1 large photo instead of 2 smaller photos, but other than that I pretty much followed the sketch exactly, using the cute fussy cut flowers in place of the circles. The page title is still at the top, and I followed the shape of the banner strips at the bottom to add more words to the title. The fun "Oh Happy Day" flag is part of the bar code strip, and with a little machine stitching, and some pearls, my layout is compete!

{Time to Party}

The newest GCD Studios magazine "the Paper Cut" is now available, and this month I have 3 projects included! This is my favorite...

Even though Gracie's birthday is still 4 months away, she has already started planning her party after seeing this sweet little hat.

This was very easy to make with just a piece of 12x12 paper, and a few scraps for accents. I rolled the paper into a cone shape and hot glued at the seam. I trimmed a bit of the paper from the bottom edge so it would sit level, then added the pretty maribou feather trim. I punched the scallops, then added the number 4. I also hot glued two thin pieces of ribbon to tie it onto her head easily.

I love how quick and easy this was and I think I'll make a hat for all her little friends to wear at the party too!

{the 4th}

I made this for Scrapbook Daisies and although it isn't a 4th of July layout, it is red, white & blue!

(papers & journaling spot: We R Memory Keepers, cardstock: Bazzill)

I used a few more of my Dad's old Navy photos, along with his service card. I'm making my way through all the memorabilia he kept from his time in the Navy, and hope to have the album completed by years end to give to my Mom.

{She Inspires}

I made this layout for my local scrapbook store quite some time ago, but never shared it here.

My Grandma is the one that really started my love for playing with paper so many years ago.

I added one of her old measuring tapes, and pieces of a pattern that I had saved.

In the photo she is wearing a dress and a fur wrap that she had made and was so very proud of.  Oh, and that huge photo on the wall behind her, yep that's me. Circa 1968
