Scrapping the Holidays

I have a new layout up over on the Paper Issues blog today! You all know I love old photos, and especially love scrapping old photos, so here's one of me on Christmas morning, 1970.

These are the only pics I have from Christmas that year, and wanted them to be the focus of my layout. I layered three different patterned papers on top of my cardstock, ending with the "Christmas Assortment" piece, that reminded me of of packaging from the '70's.

I topped off the tree with a gold Pop Drop star enamel sticker, and finished the layout with a bit of machine stitching, the cute delivery sticker, and Thickers for the date.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues store and check out the holiday papers and embellishments, and while you're there, use code: Mary Ann for 20% off your order!!

Morro Bay - Paper Issues Swag Bag

It's Swag Bag Sunday over on the Paper Issues blog, and of course I had to play along ;)  I love getting the swag bags each month, they're filled with lots of fun little bits and pieces!   For this layout I mixed and matched pieces from several months bags, and only added the background paper and the gold title.

I had 5 photos of my daughter that I wanted to include on the layout, all were taken at the same beach over the last 5 years, notice how pink has been her favorite color since she was 2 ;)  I made a large collage using all 5 photos, then added it next to the layers of tags, clips, papers, flags and that cute anchor paper pop.

Be sure to check out the Paper Issues blog for more Swag Bag inspiration. And...check out the PI store, and use code: Mary Ann for 20% off your order!!

Merry Christmas My Dear | Paper Issues

It's time for another Product Spotlight on the Paper Issues Blog!  Today's spotlight is on the super cute "Wish Season" collection by Fancy Pants. It's the perfect mix of  Christmas colors with a bit of blue and pink and some wood grain added in too!

Aren't those the cutest little trees!! I layered the die cut trees along with a tree puffy sticker on top of this Silhouette tree cut file. Next I added that sweet little deer with the red nose. As I was putting this together, I realized I didn't have anything red for his nose, so I colored an enamel dot with a red sharpie for the perfect red nose!

Buddy the Elf came to visit again this year, that silly little guy! Here he is on his first day, trying to hide in the Christmas tree. So much for being an Elf on the Shelf ;)

I used the super cute "Under the Tree" collection by October Afternoon, this Silhouette cut file for the bow, and the December sketch from Paper Issues.

Christmas Lights - Paper Issues: {P}inspire Me Monday

The newest {P}inspire Me Monday is up over at Paper Issues, and as soon as I saw the colors, I had to play along!  I went with the red, black and white, and pulled the teal color in too by using paper and embellishments that had light blue and green.

I used foam tape on the candy canes and Mr. Snowman for a bit of dimension. I like to have things pop of the page ;)

Come play along too, you could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!

Our Christmas Tree and FREE Cut Files!

I played along with the Scraplift Sunday challenge over in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} facebook group using the fab "Wish Season" collection by Fancy Pants, and one of the 5 FREE December banner cut files that are available on the Paper Issues blog today!

Here's Michelle's inspiration layout...

And here's the cute cut files...

I love scraplift challenges, you can copy the layout exactly or take just a small piece to use as your inspiration. I followed the layout pretty closely, with a single photo, the banner, the scattering of confetti (I used sequins, puffy stickers and a few trees that I cut from the banner) and the cluster of papers and embellishments under the photo.

Isn't that little tree banner the cutest!! Be sure to check out the Paper Issues blog today for the FREE cut files, and play along for your chance to win a $10 gift card to the Paper Issues store!

All You Need is Fall and Warm Socks - Paper Issues

You might remember this layout I made a few weeks ago using the "Leaves are Falling" FREE cut file from Paper Issues, well, I'm back today with a quick little card using the cut file again!!  I loved the look of the scattered leaves, and this time they are tiny leaves on a card!!

I started with the same cut file, but sized it down to a 4"x6" size, and cut the leaves from orange cardstock. Next, I glued the leaves to tan cardstock, and then layered on the the remaining pieces. I did a little machine stitching around the outside edge, and then added it to my white cardstock base.

This was so quick and easy to make, and perfect to send to a friend that I haven't seen in awhile.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Shine | Paper Issues

They're spotlighting Crate Paper's new Shine collection over on the Paper Issues blog today, and since I fell in *love* with Shine, you know I had to play along too!

This was one of my most favorite papers in the collection, there are so many ways to use it! For my layout, I filled in a few of the frames with pieces of chipboard, stickers and ephemera, then topped it off with my photo, those amazing huge gold letters and the small gold alphas too.

If you look carefully, the second "O" in zoo is actually a "c". Sometimes you have to improvise when you've used so many letters, and don't have that second "O" available  ;)

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues blog to see more Shine inspiration, and don't forget to use code Mary Ann for 20% off your order in the Paper Issues store!

Christmas Cheer | Paper Issues

There's a new sketch challenge over at Paper Issues, I loved the chevron design so I had to play along too! Here's the fab sketch:

And here's my take on it:
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the chevron design, backed it with green cardstock, then added the cute Heidi Swapp wood veneers along with splatters of gold mist and a some pretty red sequins.

When I took this photo of our front porch back in  2010, I had no idea that in 2015, we would sell that house and move 3 hours away to a home in the country. I'm so glad I have photos like this to look back on.

Head on over to the Paper Issues blog to see even more inspiration using the sketch, and don't forget, you can use code Mary Ann for 20% in the Paper Issues store!!

SIS | Paper Issues

Here's a new layout that I made for the online crop that Paper Issues had last week. The challenge was to use a large title on a layout, and these huge chipboard letters were perfect to use. Don't you just love the bright shiny gold!!

That's my mom and her sister in the photo, and I realize now that I need to go back and add 1937 for the date the photo was taken ;)

Everything on this layout, including those amazing letters are from Maggie Holmes' new Shine Collection for Crate Paper. I've always loved everything Maggie comes up with, but this collection is for sure a favorite!!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Remember This Moment - Paper Issues November Cut File

There's a new free "Leaves are Falling" cut file on the Paper Issues blog today, just in time for all those Fall photos you've been taking. Or maybe like me you have an old photo from the 70's that it works perfectly with ;)

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the leaf design from white cardstock, then used my daughters watercolor paints to give it a wash of color. I let it dry just a bit and then went back with more color, mixing the oranges and yellows, and them some of the browns and greens. Not bad for watercolors from the dollar store!

Don't forget to stop by the Paper Issues blog to get your free cut file, and while your there, if you do any shopping, but sure to use code Mary Ann for 20% your entire order!!

Grateful | Paper Issues

Here's a new layout I created for the Paper Issues blog, using the gratitude theme from the latest Issue, and a picture of me and my girl. I used lots of the beautiful Shine collection by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper, and mixed in a bit of the Cedar Lane collection by Pink Paislee, and even a bit of  the Wonder collection, also by Crate Paper. These all work together so well!

I started with the background paper, and used pink watercolor paint (that I borrowed from my 6 year old daughter) to highlight "so grateful for you" to make those words stand out a just bit more.

Next I layered some embellishments around my photo, I just love the deer with the bow tie! And finished it off with a few gold sequins.

As always thanks for stopping by, and remember, use code Mary Ann in the Paper Issues store for 20% off your order!!

So Grateful for You | Paper Issues

There's a new Issue up over at Paper Issues, and this months theme, "Let Me Espresso My Gratitude" has many fun ideas to get you started on a project. Not only Thanksgiving, and things you are thankful for, but also coffee or your favorite beverage using coffee themed embellishments or stamps. There are also super cute free printables in the Paper Issues store that would be perfect for your layouts or cards too. Why not play along, you could win a $20 gift card to the Paper Issues store!

I went with the gratitude idea, and made this layout using an old black and white photo of my grandparents, two people that I am very grateful I had in my life.

I've you've been to my blog before, you probably know I love old photos. I'm fortunate that both sides of our family tree have taken lots of photos through the years. This old black and white works beautifully with the new Shine collection by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper, and Cedar Lane by Pink Paislee. Both are favorites in the fall releases this year!

Well, happy Monday friends, and don't forget to stop by Paper Issues for your free printable, and if you use code Mary Ann in the store,  you can receive 20% off your order!!
