Dixie Mae's First Christmas

We got a new puppy back in September, so this is our first Christmas with Dixie Mae. It's also our first Christmas with a dog that likes to lay under the Christmas tree. So much so, that even after we added packages under the tree, she gently nudged a few out of the way so she could still have her space ;) Silly dog! Of course that meant I had to capture a photo.

I used bits and pieces from some past Swag Bags from Paper Issues for my layout, I love that there are so many fun pieces inside each bag, and they are so easy to mix and match! I think the snowflake and black banner was from last December, but it works great with the the green and black papers that were in the October Swag Bags just a few months ago.

Have you ever played along with the Swag Bag challenges at Paper Issues? You totally should!
You can also save 20% on the December Swag Bag (and also anything else in the store!) by using code Mary Ann when you check out in the Paper Issues store.

Remember December - Paper Issues

Round 2 of the December Issue is up on the Paper Issues blog today! This month's theme includes sharing a layout about any December holiday, so a Christmas layout it is! I used bits and pieces from Fancy Pants Designs and some older Heidi Swapp that I had in my stash, along with photos of my girl on Christmas morning. Although, as I went to add this to her album, I realized this was really 2013 and she was 5. Ugh. With a little creative cutting and gluing, the dates are now correct ;)

There are some great ideas and wonderful projects to see on the Paper Issues blog, so be sure to head over there for more inspiration, and don't forget if you're shopping in the Paper Issues store, use my code: Mary Ann for 20% off your entire purchase!!

Merry & Bright Spotlight - Paper Issues

Today on the Paper Issues blog we are spotlighting the Merry & Bright collection by Fancy Pants Designs!! I really love the colors in this collection, traditional red and green but not the traditional red and green, know what I mean?

I started my layout by cutting the doodle circle frame, then layering it on to white cardstock, red cardstock, and then the pretty holly berry paper.

I added red sequins from my stash, a bit of red paint and gold mist, then added the sweet photo of my husband (many years ago lol!) and all the cute embellishments. My favorite is the No. 25 flair button, perfect for a Christmas layout!

As always thanks for stopping by, and remember to use code: Mary Ann for 20% off on anything you have your eye on in the Paper Issues shop!

December Take 5 Tuesday Challenge - Paper Issues

The December Take 5 Tuesday Challenge is up over on the Paper Issues blog today!! For my last Take 5 project of 2016, I went with something completely different than my usual 12x12 layout. This month it's a Countdown to Christmas Calendar, that includes a FREE cut file! I used the beautiful  Merry & Bright collection by Fancy Pants Designs, and I still fit in 5 items from the challenge list too.  I started with the frame, added in the colors white and green, wood grain paper and those little triangles on the banner for my 5. What a fun way to count down the days! You could also use this idea to count down to a birthday, wedding date or any holiday, just by changing the "shape" of your numbers.

To start my calendar, I cut the tree shaped numbers using my Silhouette Cameo and this free cut file, then backed them with the green and wood grain papers. Next I added the triangle banner and the little gift box. I used re-positionable adhesive on the back of the box so I am able to move it as we count down the days.

I finished it off by adding various bits and pieces from the Merry & Bright ephemera pack, then placed it to my 12x12 frame. I love how it looks displayed in our home!

December (P)inspire Mood Board - Paper Issues

The December mood board is on the Paper Issues blog, this month there's a mix of bright reds, pretty plaids, trees, black, white and reindeer too!

My eye went right to that plaid wrapping paper. I just love the look of the red and black check together, and it really reminded me of the plaid paper in the Warm & Cozy collection from Pebbles, so I knew I had to use it! I started by printing my photo in black & white, then backed it with that fab paper.

I cut those cool pinecone boughs using my Silhouette Cameo, then layered on the embellishments. I mixed it up on this one, with pieces from We R Memory Keepers, Fancy Pants Design and Crate Paper, pulling in the black and white colors.

To finish my layout,  I added splatters of black paint, a few red sequins, and stamped my date. I can't believe this photo was taken almost 11 years ago.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues blog to see more Mood Board inspiration, and if you play along too, you could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!!

Snow Day - Paper Issues

Round 2 of the newest Issue is up at Paper Issues today! This months theme is "Going Cold Turkey in SnowVember" and some of the suggested ideas are: winter, use snowflakes or show photos, use the new Snow and Cocoa collection. I decided to go with all of those suggestions and came up with this!

Everything is from the new Snow and Cocoa collection by Crate Paper, I really love the pretty pastels mixed with gold. I especially love those sweet little birds, and knew I had to use them somewhere on my layout. Notice they are wearing pink beanies just like my girlie has on in the photo. The perfect embellishment!

Be sure to check out the Paper Issues blog, there's lots more inspiration from the team. And don't forget to use code: Mary Ann while shopping in the Paper Issue store to save 20% off your entire purchase!!

Christmas Decor - Fancy Pants Designs

I know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet. But when you make something this cute, you have to put it out on display right then! This was so quick and easy to put together too, using pieces from the new Merry & Bright collection by Fancy Pants Designs, that includes those cute little bottle brush trees and tiny lights from the dollar spot at Target.

By quick and easy, I literally mean 5 minutes. Seriously. By tomorrow I may have a miniature Christmas tree lot sitting on our mantel. Ha!

Ok, so here's how easy it is, I started by wrapping the lights around the tree, tucking the wire in as I went, and finished it with the die cut ephemera star. Since these are battery operated lights, I just let the cord trail out the back side of the tree, and tucked the battery package behind the display. I wrapped the bottom edge of the glass globe with the plaid washi tape, and then using mini glue dots, adhered the Believe acrylic piece to the front of the globe.

Oh, and to give the tree just a bit more height, I sat the tree on the roll of washi tape. Done. Couldn't be any easier or any cuter.

Hello Fall - Paper Issues Fall Crop

The Fall Crop is happening this weekend over in the Paper Issues {friends & fans} facebook group! There are lots of fun challenges with prizes too!! I'm hosting the "Falling Leaves" challenge, where you must create a "bare" project by leaving at least 2/3 of your project as negative space.

And here's my layout, I kept everything to one side to make sure I had that 2/3 of open space. I used the October Swag Bag from Paper Issues, and only added the gold Thickers to spell out fall, and then the cardstock...that's it! Everything else was included in the Swag Bag, and I still have a whole bunch of pieces left to create even more!!

Don't you just love those pretty wood veneer leaves!! Such pretty colors, and they look so real!!

The crop goes through Sunday, so stop on by and play along with some of the challenges.
There is also a SPECIAL SALE in the Paper Issues store, use code: CROPSHOP for 30% off your entire order through November 13!!

Pawsitively Pets- November Challenge

The November Pawsitively Pets challenge is up on the Paper Issues blog today! This month's challenge is to use 3 or more patterned papers and a splash of mist, ink or paint. I joined in on the fun using an old photo of my grandma in 1919, standing on the front porch with her cat.

I used the Cute Girl collection by Crate Paper, that sweet cat paper and matching pink kitty from the ephemera pack were perfect for this!! I also added in a few pieces of chipboard, and the fun XO design that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo. To finish my layout, I splattered on a bit of mist, just a little hint of yellow here and there.

Now head on over to the Paper Issues blog to see even more Pawsitively Pets inspiration, and then go check out the Paper Issues store where you can use my code: Mary Ann to save 20% off your entire order!!

Paper Issues Product Spotlight - Gather

We're spotlighting the Gather collection by Crate Paper on the Paper Issues blog today! This is the 3rd layout I've made with this collection, and I keep falling in love with it over and over again each time I use it!!  For this layout, I went with an old photo of me the year I turned nine and had plans to be to be a musician. Just kidding! For some reason I thought playing both the guitar and piano sounded like fun.

Since the photo is of me sitting at the piano holding my guitar, that cute chipboard piano and guitar were the perfect additions to my layout. I added them to a few other chipboard pieces along with some pieces from the ephemera pack too.

I still remember some of the songs I played way back when, and am glad I have this photo to look back on to remember that special time.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues blog to see more projects from the design team using the Gather collection, and don't forget to use code: Mary Ann in the PI store for 20% off your entire order!

November Take 5 Tuesday Challenge - Paper Issues!

The new Take 5 Tuesday Challenge that I host is live over on the Paper Issues blog!  As you all know it's my favorite challenge ;)  Here's my layout using the fabulous Gather collection by Crate Paper, along with something shiny, chipboard, a bow, more than 1 photo and bar code strips as my 5 items off of the inspiration and idea list.

Notice behind my photo are the pieces of the manufacturers bar code strips. So many companies use them now to show what design is on the reverse side of the patterned paper, so I always keep them in case I need just a bit of color here and there! It's like a free embellishment!!
After I added my photo on top of the strips, I layered on some of the ephemera pieces, chipboard and that sweet little bow!! I'm really loving the bright blue background :)

Have you played along with the Take 5 Tuesday challenge over at Paper Issues?? Head on over to the blog for more inspiration and information on how you can join in on the fun too, you might even win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!!

Meemaw and Pa & Me

Here's another layout made with some of the Golden Days collection, part of the amazing box of wonderfullness that I won from Fancy Pants Designs!!

I did lots of layering in a little cluster, mixing pieces of ephemera, a tag and puffy stickers too, then splattered on a bit gold mist, and finished it off with a gold glitter "&" sign I cut with my Silhouette.

I just love the colors in Golden Days, perfect to use with old black and white pics or current photos like in this layout, it goes with everything!!

Thank you again Fancy Pants Designs, I'm loving it all!!

Pioneer Days Festival - Fancy Pants Designs

A few weeks ago Fancy Pants Designs had a contest, and the winner would received some of their newest collections. Well, guess who won?? Yep, me!!! And, the "some of their newest collections" part, let's just say it was pretty much everything from those collections! OMGosh, the box was filled and stuffed as full as it could possibly be with papers and embellishments from Golden Days, Merry & Bright and Joy Parade. It was like Christmas morning ;)

And...here's my first layout, using Golden Days. I love the pretty fall colors, but as you can see it worked for my layout that wasn't at all about fall!

I layered the ephemera pieces along with a tag, then topped it off with the "golden" gold foiled puffy sticker and a cute little bow I cut with my Silhouette.  It all looks so pretty together!

Thank you again, Fancy Pants for the wonderful box fill with amazingness! I love each and every piece!!
