Dixie Mae's First Christmas

We got a new puppy back in September, so this is our first Christmas with Dixie Mae. It's also our first Christmas with a dog that likes to lay under the Christmas tree. So much so, that even after we added packages under the tree, she gently nudged a few out of the way so she could still have her space ;) Silly dog! Of course that meant I had to capture a photo.

I used bits and pieces from some past Swag Bags from Paper Issues for my layout, I love that there are so many fun pieces inside each bag, and they are so easy to mix and match! I think the snowflake and black banner was from last December, but it works great with the the green and black papers that were in the October Swag Bags just a few months ago.

Have you ever played along with the Swag Bag challenges at Paper Issues? You totally should!
You can also save 20% on the December Swag Bag (and also anything else in the store!) by using code Mary Ann when you check out in the Paper Issues store.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

Remember December - Paper Issues

Round 2 of the December Issue is up on the Paper Issues blog today! This month's theme includes sharing a layout about any December holiday, so a Christmas layout it is! I used bits and pieces from Fancy Pants Designs and some older Heidi Swapp that I had in my stash, along with photos of my girl on Christmas morning. Although, as I went to add this to her album, I realized this was really 2013 and she was 5. Ugh. With a little creative cutting and gluing, the dates are now correct ;)

There are some great ideas and wonderful projects to see on the Paper Issues blog, so be sure to head over there for more inspiration, and don't forget if you're shopping in the Paper Issues store, use my code: Mary Ann for 20% off your entire purchase!!

Merry & Bright Spotlight - Paper Issues

Today on the Paper Issues blog we are spotlighting the Merry & Bright collection by Fancy Pants Designs!! I really love the colors in this collection, traditional red and green but not the traditional red and green, know what I mean?

I started my layout by cutting the doodle circle frame, then layering it on to white cardstock, red cardstock, and then the pretty holly berry paper.

I added red sequins from my stash, a bit of red paint and gold mist, then added the sweet photo of my husband (many years ago lol!) and all the cute embellishments. My favorite is the No. 25 flair button, perfect for a Christmas layout!

As always thanks for stopping by, and remember to use code: Mary Ann for 20% off on anything you have your eye on in the Paper Issues shop!

December Take 5 Tuesday Challenge - Paper Issues

The December Take 5 Tuesday Challenge is up over on the Paper Issues blog today!! For my last Take 5 project of 2016, I went with something completely different than my usual 12x12 layout. This month it's a Countdown to Christmas Calendar, that includes a FREE cut file! I used the beautiful  Merry & Bright collection by Fancy Pants Designs, and I still fit in 5 items from the challenge list too.  I started with the frame, added in the colors white and green, wood grain paper and those little triangles on the banner for my 5. What a fun way to count down the days! You could also use this idea to count down to a birthday, wedding date or any holiday, just by changing the "shape" of your numbers.

To start my calendar, I cut the tree shaped numbers using my Silhouette Cameo and this free cut file, then backed them with the green and wood grain papers. Next I added the triangle banner and the little gift box. I used re-positionable adhesive on the back of the box so I am able to move it as we count down the days.

I finished it off by adding various bits and pieces from the Merry & Bright ephemera pack, then placed it to my 12x12 frame. I love how it looks displayed in our home!

December (P)inspire Mood Board - Paper Issues

The December mood board is on the Paper Issues blog, this month there's a mix of bright reds, pretty plaids, trees, black, white and reindeer too!

My eye went right to that plaid wrapping paper. I just love the look of the red and black check together, and it really reminded me of the plaid paper in the Warm & Cozy collection from Pebbles, so I knew I had to use it! I started by printing my photo in black & white, then backed it with that fab paper.

I cut those cool pinecone boughs using my Silhouette Cameo, then layered on the embellishments. I mixed it up on this one, with pieces from We R Memory Keepers, Fancy Pants Design and Crate Paper, pulling in the black and white colors.

To finish my layout,  I added splatters of black paint, a few red sequins, and stamped my date. I can't believe this photo was taken almost 11 years ago.

Be sure to stop by the Paper Issues blog to see more Mood Board inspiration, and if you play along too, you could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!!
