September 30, 2011

Yes, thank goodness it's Friday!  It's been a busy week, so the weekend sounds wonderful right about now. I did find a little scrap time between all the busyness. (that is a must, right??)
I used more of that great chevron paper by My Minds Eye. It's amazing how a trend can just happen overnight. Chevron's are everywhere right now, and not just in the scrapbooking world. I loved this bike at Target and really really loved these cute shoes. Of course Target is completely sold out of the whole Missoni Collection. (let's hear a cheer for rain checks!) I'm working on another layout, trying to cut my own chevron design. I'll post it when I finish. Oh, and that cute little flag? That was made with a stick pin and a scrap of paper.
My weekend officially starts NOW :)  enjoy yours!

It's always fun to go to my favorite Scrapbooking Website and find my layout in the Top 3 Most Liked layouts.
And then 2 layouts I made awhile back were featured Sunday on the Aussie Scrap Source Blog   So fun:)
Happy Tuesday!

Summer vacation photos, left over scraps, and some machine stitching.
Add some American Crafts alphas,
and I love what I came up with.
(the pink color that shows up right above the photos is not really there...the cardstock is totally white, so I'm not even sure what it is...shadow maybe??)
Happy Sunday!

September 21, 2011

This is the third week of school, so I feel pretty good that I have the first two pages of 6th grade already in Tucker's school album! Every year I use the letter from school with classroom/teacher assignment as page one, and this will be page two.
(cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, alpha letters: American Crafts and My Little Shoebox, everything else: Fancy Pants)
I love the cute flashcards, and with a few pop-dots, they make the perfect embellishments!

So, except for the foggy gloomy mornings like today which makes for bad lighting to take photos of layouts (like that one up there ^ ) I'm loving that it's finally starting to feel like fall!! I even bought a pumpkin yesterday that is now proudly sitting on our front porch. Of course that probably means we will now have a heat wave. Gotta love So CA weather ;)
Happy Wednesday!

{1967, another layout to share!}

Here's a layout I made as a sample for Scrapbook Daisies, this time it's made with the Destinations collection from Simple Stories.
(cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, alphas letters: American Crafts, everything else: Simple Stories)
I just love that little camera sticker!! I added a few pop dots to it and to the highway sign for some dimension. I love the travelogue paper too, it has just that perfect vintage look for a photo from the 60's.
Thanks for stopping by!

{A Layout and Exciting News!}

Here's a layout I made for Scrapbook Daisies using the new Lost and Found 2 from My Minds Eye. I love the vintage feel to this collection
(paper & die-cut title: My Minds Eye, flowers: Prima, alphas: American Crafts, cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, feather)
For this layout, I cut out the center of the patterned paper leaving a "frame", then roughed up the inside edge with my distressing tool.  After printing the journaling on cardstock, I added it behind the paper frame, then added the photo and embellishments.
And now the exciting news...
I've been asked to join the Sketchabilities Design Team! It's a great group of scrappers on the new team, representing 12 different countries! Our term begins in October, and I'm excited to get started on my first project.
Happy Thursday!

{A Layout to Share}

One of our favorite places to visit on the weekends is the local Farmers Market. I love the fresh fruits and veggies and Gracie likes the pony ride.
(papers and embellishments: My Minds Eye, trim)
The day I took these pictures I had three or four other parents comment that they never thought to bring their camera to the Farmers Market. Little did they know that I take my camera everywhere I go. lol  I'm so glad I do always carry my camera. Perfect for everyday moments like these.

May We Never Forget

I made this little banner this morning. Not for a day we celebrate, but for a day we remember and reflect.
It took less than 10 minutes to put together.
As I was cutting and gluing I was thinking what it would have been like for those that had only 10 minutes to call their families for their last goodbye. I can't even imagine. Every time I've walked past this little banner today, it has reminded me how precious and fragile our lives are.
May we never forget.

{The Great-Great Grands}

I'm still playing with paper and glue and old black and whites.

(papers: Sassafras Lass & My Minds Eye, alphas:Sassafrass Lass & My Little Shoebox, doily sticker:Recollections,label stickers:My Minds Eye,flower: prima, ric-rack, leaf pins)
There's just something about the old black and whites that I love.

I'm not loving this heat wave that has hit So Cali though. It seems like our Summer weather always starts on the first day back to school, which was Tuesday, which was also when the thermometer said 94.  I'

I'm longing for cooler nights, cardigan sweaters, pumpkin chai lattes and everything Fall. I may or may not have even climbed up into the attic yesterday and pulled out a pumpkin or two ;)
Happy Thursday!

Another old black and white picture! This time it's my Dad's first Navy photo. I added his Selective Service card from when he enlisted by tucking it behind the other embellishments. I didn't want it permanently stuck down since there is more info on the back.
(papers: My Minds Eye, alpha letters: american crafts, stars: Recollections, Navy emblem: K & Co., ship: ek Success)

I can't believe there's only 2 days left until school starts. Can't we just reset the calendar to June??
