I've got a layout up on the Love My Tapes blog today, using what else but washi tape!!

I even made this cute little bow out of washi ;)

I went with a vintage shabby design on this layout I made for Scrapbook Daisies. I think it looks perfect with this photo of my Grandma back in 1929!

I did a little fussy cutting, tearing, folding and of course a little bit of machine stitching too.
My Grandma was so good about writing the who-what-why-when on the back of pictures, it's almost like she knew that one day I would need all that information as I scrapbooked each particular photo ;)  This one has quite a story to it, so I'll be adding that to the back of the layout.

{Grandpa's 2nd Birthday}

Here's layout I made for Scrapbook Daisies with some old black & whites (you all know how much I love the old b & w's!) along with some of the Cakewalk collection from October Afternoon.

Of course I had to add a little machine stitching and a little typing too ;)
I keep thinking I want to buy a brand new typewriter that types each letter perfectly. But a new typewriter wouldn't have the character and charm like this one does, and a new typewriter wouldn't have belonged to my hubby's Grandma like this one did. So for now I have to type a few of the letters two or three times to get them to show up, an 8 is almost impossible to use, but it's all part of our family history, the same family history that these layouts are about.

{Before I Was Your Mom}

Today I have a mini album to share that's up on the Paper Bakery blog.
I made this for my almost 4 year old daughter. She is always asking me "Mommy, what did you like to do when you were a little girl?" She loves looking at her scrapbooks, so I thought this would be fun for us to look through together.

See the "562" numbers? That's a design on one of the Jillibean Soup papers included in the kit. The cool part...that's the area code for the city we live in, and where I grew up.

I love October Afternoon's Woodland Park miscellany pack and especially love the vintage flash cards. The super cool thing about this page...on the back of the photo of me standing by our trailer, my mom had written where we camped and the was August 10, 1973!! I used the Studio Calico frame around the 10 to make sure it stood out :)

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me share my mini with you :)

{You Make my Heart Sing}

Hi friends! Today I have a layout that's up on the Love My Tapes blog.

I used the sherbet mini check fabric tape along the border, and used it to cover the Studio Calico wood veneer frame.

I love how the tape looks on the frame, and because the fabric tape is self adhesive, it was so easy!  I just laid pieces of the tape all around the frame and cut off the excess. A perfect page accent!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I thought maybe if I shared this fall layout, Mother Nature would oblige me just a little and cool things off here in So Cali.  I'm longing for sweaters and hot cocoa but the past few days have been shorts and an obscene amount of Dr. Pepper ;)

I used bits and pieces of the September project kit and add-on kit from the Paper Bakery.  I love the warm colors, and the cute glitter leaves!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was just much to short.

Even though we are finally having our "summer heat" here in So Cali, I am looking forward to Fall and of course Halloween. It may be too hot to add pumpkins to the front porch, but it's never to hot to scrap some old black & white trick or treat pics!

I used bits and pieces of the September project kit, and the scrapbook kit from the Paper Bakery. Don't you just love the orange and purple with the grey chevron! I wrote the story about me being afraid to wear the mask that went with the costume, and tucked it into the sweet little treat bag.

{the 7 minute layout}

It started out as a joke on one of the scrapbooking forums I visit. One of the ladies simply stated that she wished she could finish a layout every 15 minute so if she scrapbooked for 2 hours, she would end up with 8 layouts. Of course everyone said that was impossible, and most said each layout takes them at least 2 hours. So I proposed the challenge...a layout in 15 minutes.

No it's not my most elaborate or creative layout, but I did it in 7 minutes, including printing the two photos! Oh if only I could do that with the never ending stack of photos I have ;)

**edited 6:53 a.m.- After getting a few emails asking what punch I used for the mini's not a punch, the banner is  pre-made by My Minds Eye. It's 2 yards long, so I just cut it in strips to fit across the page and glued it down.

{Love My Tapes}

Today I have my first Design Team project for Love My Tapes to share with you, and it's up on the LMT blog too!

( Alphas: American Crafts, Tapes: Love My Tapes, everything else: My Minds Eye)
I used two colors of lace tape layered across the page and as a flower embellishment too.  To make the cute flower I just layered the 2 different colors of the lace tape directly on my layout. Starting with the yellow lace tape, gathering and twisting into a circle, then adding a layer of the pink lace tape underneath and finishing off with a flair button. The best part about the lace already has adhesive added so no sticky fingers!

It looks like our So Cali heat wave is here to stay for at least a few more days, so it will be a perfect time to stay inside with the A/C on and scrapbook.  Although we did get an email notice yesterday that there may be rolling blackouts in our area this week. Scrapbooking doesn't work so well when your sitting in the pool trying to keep cool ;)

{Good-Bye Summer!}

I can't believe Summer is officially over. These past few months have flown by at an amazing speed, and once again I am wishing we still had more time to play. As an ode to Summer, here's a layout from our Summer 2010 vacation. I love the rainbow in the photo and wanted to keep the attention on it, so I added my own simple rainbow made with leftover scraps and a few rows of machine stitching.

I hope you enjoyed your Summer as much as I did!

{a new Layout & a Winner!}

First up, a new layout I made for Scrapbook Daisies using the "So Happy Together" collection from Echo Park.

I *love* the bright colors in this collection, and how cute are the stickers of the truck and trailer!! Perfect for these old pics of my Mom & Dad camping. I'm so grateful that my parents took a lot of photos of events and their daily life before I came along :)

And now on to the giveaway...
