Christmas Home Decor - 3 Birds Studio

I have my last two Design Team projects to share for 3Birds studio, it's been a great year working with them and I have loved playing with all the wonderful goodies they have sent me to play with!!
First up, this 5x7 frame. 3Birds teamed up with Therm O Web for our last projects, and anyone that knows paper crafting knows you need good adhesive!!!

I used Therm O Web Zots 3D glue dots under the Tis the Season banner to give it a bit of dimension. I also used their regular Zots to adhere the red gems. This would look cute sitting on a mantle or table!

My next project has a shadow box type frame that can stand or be hung on a wall. It is 12×12 in size, and will be sitting on our entry way table. To start, I chose the pretty wood grain paper from the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit, and then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the design.

After cutting the design, I added Therm O Web 3D Foam Squares to the back of the paper; this will raise the paper in the frame and give it a great 3D look!

After adding the foam squares, I then cut strips of the green and red paper from the Flora Festival Premiere Page Kit to place behind each sentence of the Christmas saying. Placing the paper strips over the foam square will give it the added dimension. For the gold glitter star, and the gold tree trunk, I used tag pieces from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit. Each piece fit perfectly for those small spaces.

Now all that is left is to add the 12×12 paper to the frame, and your project is complete!

Thank you again 3Birds Design, and thank you too to Therm O Web for the awesome box of adhesive!!!

17Turtles Guest Designer and 3Birds Studio!

*I'm Guest Designing over on the 17Turtles blog today!! Here's a little sneak peek of my layout? Oh, and be sure to stop by and check out the fabulous cut files in their etsy shop!

Christmas is just a few days away, but that's still enough time to make a Christmas card or too!  Here are two cards I made for 3Birds Design using the Holiday Season Quilled Cardmaking Kit.

For this cute snow globe card, I started with the green hounds tooth base, added the white rectangle, and layered on the pieces to make the snow globe along with the white swirl and holly leaves.

I also added a bit of glitter, and then layered on the deer with a small piece of foam tape to add a bit of dimension. I love the look of the glitter, just like a real snow globe!

For my next card, I started with the woodgrain card base, and added snowflakes that I punched from white cardstock. I did four lines of machine stitching, and then adhered the clear gems from the Pearlescent and Foil Goodie Box.

After the gems were dry, I layered on the polka dot strip border, then added the Let it Snow piece with foam tape.

As always, thanks for stopping by today, and a special thank you to 17Turtles for having me as your Guest Designer!!!

Our Snowman | Chic Tags

Since we barely have a change of seasons here in So Cali, and it's never cold enough to snow, it also means no snowmen. The one thing we do have is Target, and on a recent shopping trip to Target, I found the *cutest* little snowman that just had to come home with us!

Our sweet little snowman has an "outdoorsy" look to him, so for my layout I used a monochromatic natural wood color scheme along with bright Christmas red accents.
The Christmas Cheer Kit from Chic Tags (along with a few pieces from some past kits) was perfect to use, lots of wood veneer, the darling snowman die cut and the cute little red veneer stars!

No, we may not have snow, but we still have fun decorating for the holidays!

Christmas Pocket Pages Mini Album - December Daily

I'm up on the Chic Tags blog today with 2 pages of my 25 Days of Christmas mini album, using pieces from the Christmas Cheer kit. My album is 9x10, and I have about 1/2 of the pages already completed for the "family tradition" things we always do in December, the rest of the pages I will make as the days come along.

First up is a page for when we make a gingerbread house. That's something we do every year, and of course I always take pictures ;)

The cute cork gingerbread people were perfect to use! I also used the baking with love 3x4 card and the gingerbread die cut and peppermint candy flair button, all from the Christmas Cheer kit.

My next page is all set for the pictures of "Buddy", our Elf on the Shelf. He always manages to get into some kind of mischief, so we have to document that too!

Be sure to check out the exclusive Christmas Cheer kit, there are so many fun pieces to use for your December mini album or layouts and cards too!!

My girlie turned six a few weeks ago, of course that meant a new layout!

I have lots of pictures of her with her birthday cake and opening presents, but those will come later. For now it's a layout with this picture that captures here sweet personality and beautiful blue eyes. I still can't believe she's six.

Thanksgiving Place Cards

I had these place card holders up on the 3 Birds Studio blog last week. What a great way to add a little fun to your Thanksgiving dinner table!

They're super easy to make, and will add just the perfect touch to each place setting! To start, I made the “feathers” by cutting 3 scalloped circles using my Silhouette and THIS cut file (scalloped circle punches would also work for this!) Next, I cut the circles in half, and glued them on to the place card base made from a 4×5 piece of scrap cardstock that had been folded in half.

I cut the turkey body and beak from cardstock and then layered it on the feather pieces. For the turkey’s wattle, I cut a small piece from a strip of red quilling paper found in the Holiday Season Card Making Kit. Next came the googly eyes from my stash of craft supplies.

After the turkey body was complete I added a rectangle piece of patterned paper, and did some machine stitching around the edges. To finish the place cards, I printed the names on my computer, then cut them into small strips and added to the center of each card.

Hayrides & Memories | Chic Tags

I have a new layout up on the Chic Tags blog today using some of my favorite pieces from the exclusive new Fall collection!

I used the cute pumpkins hayrides & friends 3x4 card, and as you can see, I added it behind my photos so the word friends was covered. Since this was a picture of my hubby and son I decided to "hide" the word friends, and then layered on the memories made with you die cut.

Below the photos I sprinkled on a few of the leaf die cuts, did some quick machine stitching right on top of them, then added the cute Hello Fall flair button.
And yes, the year 2004 on the date stamp is right. Somehow I never did scrap these photos way back then. Now to get Fall photos from 2014 scrapped!

Happy Fall Y'all!

I have a new layout up on the Chic Tags blog today for Color Crush Monday. Right now, I'm crushing on the beautiful colors of Fall, oranges, tans and browns with a little bit of teal and navy blue thrown in too ;)

I paired up some of my favorite Fall colored papers with the cute pumpkin & leaf wood veneers, Fall die cuts and pumpkin patch flair button from the Chic Tags shop.

And, even though I heard Christmas music playing in a store this past weekend, I'm going to hold on to Fall for awhile and enjoy!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

17Turtles 3Birds Studio Team Up!

Here's a new layout I had up on the 3 Birds Design blog, for a team up with 17Turtles Digital Cut Files. There are so many cute designs in the 17Turtles shop, I had a hard time choosing, but I finally decided on “Everyday Polaroids 1”. I  love that it not only has the polaroids, but five different titles to go along with it!

The “insta fun” title was perfect to use with my photos, and looks so pretty cut out of the gold glitter paper from the 8×8 Glitter Paper Pad. I love the gold color, and it cuts so smoothly with my Silhouette Cameo!

I used some of the darling embellishments from the Flora Festival Premier Page Kit along with sequins and the super sweet little bow from the Touch of Glimmer Embellishment Kit; it gives just the perfect amount of dimension to my layout!

Be sure to check out all the great designs in the 17turtles Etsy Shop, there’s something for scrapbookers, paper crafters and card makers too! And, to celebrate this team up, we are inviting you, our 3 Birds Fans, to play along by creating and sharing a project made using any 3 Birds products and a cut file from 17turtles. Once you have finished your project, share it with us on our either the 3 Birds Facebook page or the 17turtles Facebook page. From all of the shared projects, we will randomly select one winner to choose 2 products of their choice from the currently available 3 Birds Design products and their choice of 5 digital cut files from the 17turtles Shop.
You have until November 3rd to enter your project, and the winner will be announced on the 3 Birds blog on November 5th!

Once Upon a Time

If you've stopped by my blog before, you may have seen me mention that I love scrapping old family photos. I consider myself lucky that on both sides of our family, there has been someone that liked taking pictures, a lot of pictures, so I have what seems like a never ending stack of photos. Some I have stories to go with the photos, some I don't. This would be one that I don't. I wish my grandma was still alive so I could ask her why she and my grandpa were wearing matching jackets.

My grandma was an excellent seamstress and could make almost anything without even using a pattern, so I have a feeling she may have made these matching jackets for the two of them, but I'll never really know.  I do know that I love the picture and wanted it in our family album ;)

Fall Home Decor with Found Items

Here's two projects I had up on the 3Birds Studio blog, both made with items you probably have in your kitchen pantry!  First up, this cute tea light holder, I got the idea for this as I was making dinner. The pasta sauce jar was such a nice shape, I knew I had to make something fun with it!

After the jar was clean and dried,  I added orange paint to the inside and rolled it from side to side, making sure all areas of the glass were covered, then let it sit overnight to dry. For the outside,  I cut the “Fall” themed card into an oval, and fussy cut the floral swag, both from the Autumn For All Seasons Themed Card set that is available now on A few gems, and ribbon for the top and my jar was complete! It looks just as pretty during the day as it does lit up and night!

Now, how about a tuna can pumpkin!

After cleaning and drying the can, I gave it a coat of orange paint. While it was drying, I cut a circle with a 3” punch and added the cute face cut from black cardstock. After the paint was completely dry, I glued on the face, a stem made from a scrap of paper, and then the leaves and vines  made from green quilling strips in the new Holiday Season Quilled Card Making Kit.
I didn’t worry about decorating the back or inside of the can since I was going to sit it on a shelf, but you could also cover the back of the can with a scrap of paper to complete the look.

A New Layout Using an Old Photo

My mom and me in 1973, at one of my favorite places to go camping as a kid.

Lot's of American Crafts goodies on this one, Maggie Holmes' embellishments and chevron paper with Heidi Swapp's smile wood veneer. I added a few sequins and leaves from my stash along with a little machine stitching for a quick and easy layout!

Solvang Layout | 3 Birds Studio

I had this layout up on the 3Birds Studio blog a few weeks ago, and forgot to share it here!!  I used this sketch for a double-page layout:
and came up with this!

I don't do a whole lot of double-page layouts, so it was fun to use 7 (yes 7!!) photos all at one time. I followed the sketch pretty closely as far as photo placements, but switched it up by adding the strip of paper to the top of the layout instead of behind the photos.

On the right side of my layout, I still used the same number of photos, but printed the four photos all together as one large 6×6 photo.
I like collecting patches from the different places we visit, they make great custom embellishments, and it was perfect to use on this page!
