3 Birds Studio | Every Cloud has a Silver Lining

Here's a layout for 3 Birds Studio using the new Midday Medley collection and a new favorite pic of Gracie and her bff. It was my first time using the Glitter Paper Pad, and I'll admit I was a bit nervous about cutting the glitter paper with my Silhouette Cameo die cutting machine, but I finally gave it a go and loved how smoothly it cut!
I cut the clouds first, and they cut through perfectly, just like I was cutting a piece of cardstock. The best part though was no loose glitter everywhere! If you have tried other glitter papers before, you know what I'm talking about ;) I used the glitter cardstock setting, and the double cut feature too as the machine suggests, to cut both the clouds and my title.
After cutting the clouds, I added foam adhesive tape to the back to give them a bit of dimension, then added the bow and "hello there" 3D sticker.
I'm not sure yet if this will go in Gracie's school scrapbook or in her every day scrapbook, for now it's hanging in her room, taped to her door with no less than 8 pieces of tape, but it was her idea to hang it for awhile and that's what matters most.

My Creative Scrapbook | Creative Scrappers Sketch 269

My Creative Scrapbook is joining up with Creative Scrappers for their latest Sketch Challenge, here's my take on Sketch #269
And here's the great sketch...
I used the flowers in place of the stars, and then still used a 4x4 photo and have my title in the same area as on the sketch. I love using a sketch once in awhile to not only give me a starting point, but also to see how it can spark an idea!

Be sure to pop on over to the Creative Scrappers blog to see all the amazing layouts created with Sketch #269 by their DT and the girls from My Creative Scrapbook too, there's lots of inspiration!!!
If you want to play along, the deadline to submit your layout is May 31th at Midnight ADT, you could win a prize from My Creative Scrapbook!!!

Chic Tags | Relax

Here's a layout I had up on the Chic Tags blog, with pics from one of our favorite places to stop on the California coast. The Big Sur River Inn means spending time lounging in a big wooden chair, right in the middle of the Big Sur River, there's nothing quite like it.
I used bits and pieces from the new Cloud 9 and Let's Go collections, don't you just love those sweet little cloud wood veneer! I also added some machine stitching, my fave Heidi Swapp gold mist and of course a few sequins ;)
As always, thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy the rest of this wonderful holiday weekend, and to those that have served our country, thank you.

3 Birds Studio Mix and Match

Here's a layout that was up on the 3 Birds Studio blog using the Graceful Season collection, and a bit of the brand new Midday Medley collection too. I love that the two mix and match together so well!!
I had already started putting my layout together when the new Midday Medley goodies arrived in the mail. As soon as I realized how well they coordinated, I thought why not add some of the new things to my layout! So the papers are Graceful Season, and the yellow oval sticker and the cute Today stamp are part of the new Midday Medley collection.
I also used this FREE Stars Background cut file designed by Juliana Michaels, behind my photos, and did a little water coloring and a few paint splatters too.

I really like the look of the water colored cardstock, it's like custom designing my own paper!  I think I might have to invest in a set of water color paints though instead of borrowing my 5 year old's  ;)
Midday Medley and Graceful Season are both available exclusively on

Home | My Creative Scrapbook

Here's another layout for My Creative Scrapbook using the May main kit and an old black and white.
The Simple Stories wood grain papers in the kit were perfect to use with the picture of the old wooden house. My husbands grandma had written on the back of the photo that Peal Harbor was bombed the day they were moving in.
I am still amazed when I look through so many of the old family photos and the stories behind them.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Dad & Me | 3 Birds Studio

Here's a new layout that was up on the 3 Birds Studio blog. It's another heritage layout, but this time it's my dad and me in the photo, way back in 1970.
Sometimes when I'm scrapping an old photo I'll do a bit of color correction if the photo has faded or the color has changed, but with this one I embraced that 70's look and matched my embellishments to the green-ish tint of the picture.

The papers and embellishments are all from the Graceful Season collection by 3 Birds Studio and is available exclusively on
I also added a few rows of "messy stitching" around the outer frame design. I like the look of the messy stitching, but it does cross my mind once in awhile that someday the grand kids might wonder if grandma really could sew a straight line or not ;)
Well, the weekend is almost here, it's time to relax and enjoy!

Teacher Appreciation Week

It's Teacher Appreciation Week (our school district celebrates it a week later than what seems like the rest of the country) and I used the same idea as I did a few years back. Different school, different teacher, different kid, so it's almost like a brand new idea ;)
Quick and easy to make with cardstock, alpha letters, ribbon and a 6-pack of A&W root beer!
And, not that I'm counting but there are only 25 days left until the end of school. I'm ready to start celebrating that right now ;)
As always, thanks for stopping by!

A New Layout, a Podcast and Some Old Favorites

Hi friends, I have a new layout, some old layouts, and a podcast to share today. Yes a podcast!
The ScrapGals are talking about "Documenting the Past", and gave me and my blog a shout out for scrapping my old family photos. How very cool is that! You can listen to it  here.
And my layout...
I used the May main kit from My Creative Scrapbook, and love how the embellishments in the kit work so well with this old photo of my Dad-in-law from the 50's. Aren't the mason jars just so cute!!! I've had such a fun time creating with this months kit!!
and...since The ScrapGals podcast was about my heritage layouts, here's some of my favorites from the last few years.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, and thanks too to the ScrapGals for featuring my blog!!

Happy Mother's Day!

In honor of Mother's Day, here's my mom and me leaving the hospital, just days after I was born.
I used Chic Tags sketch from their monthly Sketch Challenge, with butterflies in place of the hexagons.

I added a bit of machine stitching on top of the butterflies.

All these pretty papers, the cute tags, flair button and stickers are from the new Chic Tags Cloud 9 collection, don't you just *love* the colors!! The pretty gold alphas are from an older collection, but they match perfectly with all the yummy gold goodness!
Be sure to check out the Sketch Challenge, you have until June 13 to play along for a chance to win a Chic Tags Grab Bag!!!!

Real Life | Chic Tags

The month of April was a hard one for my girlie with 3 trips to the Emergency Room in 3 weeks. I kept all the bracelets they give you when you check in, and of course being a scrapbooker, I had to use them on a layout. My own custom (very expensive ha ha!) embellishments.
The papers  and real embellishments are all part of the new Cloud 9 and Let's Go collections from Chic Tags. The "proof we were here" die cut was so perfect to use to point to her arm in a sling!
I added in a few sequins from my stash and a little hand stitching along with the cute die cuts, and then listed each "ailment" she was treated for ;)
All in all, Gracie has come through this like a trooper. She's hardly complained at all about wearing a cast, and even when the medicine for the earache gave her horrible hives, she took it all in stride. We go back to the doctor on Monday to see if she can have her cast removed. She loves that the cast is hot pink, but she will be happy to see it go!

California Adventure | My Creative Scrapbook

I have a new layout to share for My Creative Scrapbook using the May 2014 Main Kit. This is an older photo that I hadn't scrapped yet, it goes perfectly with the Simple Stories Homespun papers and embellishments in the kit!

I made the banner with a mix of stickers and fussy cutting patterned paper, then added in the cute Mickey Mouse heads that I die cut from black cardstock.
Here's a look at the May Main Kit, see all the wonderful goodies included!
I'll have more layouts to share later this week, as always, thanks for stopping by!

Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Happy National Scrapbook day friends! Yes, there really is a day set aside just for us scrapbookers. I'm scrapping and playing along today with friends and favorite websites that are having challenges, chats, and lots of fun!
Here's a layout to share for NSD, made for my girlie's school album.
I kept the lap card from her school Jog-a-Thon and used that as an embellishment for my page. A quick and easy layout, but a great way to remember the day!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, enjoy, and be creative!
