Shimelle Go Now Go - Paper Issues

We're spotlighting the Go Now Go collection by American Crafts over on the Paper Issues blog today! I've always loved everything that Shimelle comes up in her collections, and Go Now Go is no exception. It's full of great designs, fun colors and works for not only travel but heritage layouts too. Yes even heritage, including this layout of my dad and his Boy Scout troop way back in 1939.

I used lots of pieces from the ephemera pack, layering them all around my photo. I especially like the bronz-ish gold clear acetate pieces!! I finished the layout off with a few splatters of black paint and then some green enamel dots and numbers from my stash.

And it's another completed layout for the family history album!

Swag Bag Sunday - Paper Issues!

It's Swag Bag Sunday over on the Paper Issues blog, and I have a layout to share using the December Swag Bag and an old family photo from 1973!

That's my husband at age 4, decorating the Christmas tree with his mom. The pieces in the December swag bag worked so well with the colors in the photos, the deep reds and golds, and then there's that cute die cut tree and wood veneer reindeer!

I painted the reindeer with a quick coat of white paint, then added a tiny dot of red paint to his nose. The only thing I used on my layout that wasn't included in the swag bag was the background paper, and I still have lots of pieces left to use on more layouts or cards.
Have you ever used one of the PI swag bags?? They sure are fun, lots of different bits and pieces that all coordinate so well together. If you would like to try one out, don't forget to use my code: Mary Ann in the PI store for 20% off not only a swag bag, but your entire order!!

Crate Paper Heart Day - Paper Issues

Today on the Paper Issue's blog we are spotlighting Crate Paper's new Heart Day collection! Heart Day is full of lots and lots of hearts, and pretty reds and pinks, and I love that it works for not just Valentine's day photos, but every day photos too!

The XOXO paper is my fave in Heart Day, I really like the painted look of the letters and hearts! For my layout, I actually did a little scraplifting, but this time I scraplifted myself.  Yep, I went back to an old layout I made in 2014, and followed the same design that originally came from this sketch by My Creative Sketches. See how I flipped the sketch for this one!

And here's my layout that I lifted.

Have you ever done that? Gone back to an old layout and lifted yourself?? It's a great way to complete a layout, especially when your pile of photos seems to be growing faster than you can get them scrapped. ha!

As always, thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the Paper Issues blog for even more Heart Day inspiration, and don't forget you can use use code: Mary Ann in the Paper Issues store for 20% off your entire purchase!

Sketchy Saturday - January

The new January sketch is up over at Paper Issues!

I played along using the brand new Hazelwood collection by American Crafts. I'm loving the colors and patterns in Hazelwood, such an eclectic mix of checks, florals, stripes and some amazing globe designs! There are also arrows, butterflies and really cool cork embellishments, so be sure to check those out too!

I followed the sketch design fairly closely, but added in a few more banner shapes to the right of my photo. And yes, that's me in the photo, all dressed up with a hat and purse.

Stop by the Paper Issues blog for even more inspiration using this great sketch, and don't forget to use code Mary Ann in the Paper Issues store for 20% off your entire purchase!

Take 5 Tuesday - January 2017

Welcome to  2017! I have a new layout up on the Paper Issues blog today for the first Take 5 Tuesday Challenge of the year. This one uses the super cute "Space Academy" by Carta Bella, and a photo from 2004, the year that started this boys craze for all things space related.

If you've followed along with the Take 5 Challenge, you know that I give you a list of items, and from that list you pick 5 to use on your project. For my 5 items, I used cardstock, patterned papers, stars, pop dots for a bit of dimension, and the color black.

Stop by the PI blog to check out the challenge, and why not play along too! You might even win a gift card to the Paper Issues store. How cool would that be!
