School Pictures

I've said it before, and I know I'll say it again, at least for 8 more years, until the time the girlie finishes high school, but...I'm not a fan of school pictures.
The "pose awkwardly for 3 seconds, quickly, because the rest of the school is waiting in line too" school pictures. But yet I still buy them, every single year. Fall AND spring.
**and then I wait 2 years to scrapbook them.
But as of today, this layout is done and ready to go in her school album!

I just may pull another school picture from the stack and scrap it too!!

Pumpkin Princess

I'm back with another layout, this one is for my girlie's school album. Gotta document her Pumpkin Princess that she made for pumpkin decorating contest at school.

This one is such a mix of products from my stash, the background paper is an older Christmas paper that has snowflakes on the B side, and the fabulous chipboard piece is probably 5 years old. Since the photo is 2 years old, does that make the chipboard really only 3 years old?  Ha!

The pumpkin decorating contest is coming up again next week at school, I promise I'll get those photos scrapped a little sooner ;)

As always, thanks for stopping by!!

Finally, a new layout!

I'm back with a new layout, it seems like it's been forever!
First it was the fair, and all things 4-H, and animals, and then the end of school, then summer and vacations, and then some diy projects for around the house, and the next thing you know school has started again and it's the middle of September. I'm so happy to be playing with paper and glue again!

For this layout, I wanted to use these cute pictures of my girly at her school carnival, and these sweet little goat die cuts and fence from Doodlebug Designs. The die cut goats were originally gray with white spots, but I used a black marker to color in the spots to make them look more like the goats in the photo, and I love how they turned out! Add in the cute "gather" title, big ol' flower and some sequins and this layout was good to go!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I've missed you!!

Swag Bag! - The Banana Split

The April Swag Bag has arrived at my doorstep!
As soon as I opened that cute little bag of goodness, I couldn't wait to start gluing,
and that's exactly what I did!

I started with the FREE Polka Dots background cut file, and then kept on layering! Under the photo of the HUGE banana split I even used a piece of the actual Swag Bag for an extra layer. I especially love the large tag and tag holder, so cute to do a bit of journaling and tuck it inside!

Get your Swag Bag here, they don't last long, so hurry on over to place your order
in the Paper Issues store. Don't forget to use code: Mary Ann,

Green Thumb - Scraplift Sunday

I love Scraplift Sunday's at Paper Issues, it's a quick and easy way to finish a layout. Sometimes I'll copy it very closely, other times I'll start making something that looks like the layout I'm lifting and then somehow takes a left turn and looks nothing like the original design. Either way, they're always a lot of fun to work on!
For this layout, I used lots of leaves from the You & Me Poppy Flowers FREE cut file from the PI store. Those leaves were a perfect embellishment to document my girls 4-H field trip where she planted succulents in a cute container to bring home. I also used lots of papers and embellishments from my stash, mixing and matching along the way!

Have you ever tried scraplifting?? Does it work for you??

Old School Inspiration

There's a fun new challenge over at Paper Issues!
This one is called Old School, and is all about using a black and white photos.
So what if you don't have an old black and white pic to use??
How about a current photo printed in black and white? That works too!

As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew I had to play along. I have a ton of old family photos, and yep, you guessed it, most of them are black and white. I love scrapping the old pics, and recording the stories from so long ago. I used the brand new Pick Me up collection by Pink Paislee, the colors work so well with the old black and white!

I also used the fabulous Leaves & Laurels cut file that is available for FREE in the Paper Issues store. I used just the top half of the "laurel" to give the photo a framed look.

I also did some hand stitching, a back stitch is so quick and easy to do, it's my go to when I want to add a little texture and color.

Be sure to check out the Old School Challenge here in the Friends & Fans {facebook group} and join in on the fun! You could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!!

Collins - Progressively Better Challenge

Have you seen the Progressively Better Challenge at Paper Issues? It's one of the new challenges, and it's a favorite for sure! You can follow along as the challenge is happening live, or wait and watch it when you have the time and play along then. Either way it's a lot of fun! I kind of worked on a layout as the challenge was live, but as usual, I get so busy watching what the girls are making, I didn't get a whole lot done on my layout. ha! I did finish it later though, and here's what I came up with.

Starting with a cardstock background was easy, but adding in all the items from the list can be a little tricky! For doodling, I added a few "xxx" marks, and since I didn't know the exact date the photo was taken, using late 1800's was as close as I could get, but it works!

There is still time to play along with the challenge, here is the Progressively Better list so you can join in too!

Start with a cardstock background
Add 6”x7” patterned paper
Add 1 patterned paper layer any size
Add 1”x12” paper strip
Add 2 pieces of ephemera
Add 1 tag
Add doodling
Add 1 sticker
Add a big title
Add 2 layers anywhere. Can be paper can be embellishments. Anything.
Add enamel dots/shapes
Add twine or ribbon
Add a sub title
Add the date

Farm Sweet Farm- Scraplift Sunday

It's Scraplift Sunday over at Paper Issues!!
Scraplifts are always a favorite, they are such a quick and easy way to get your photos scrapped. You can copy it exactly or make it your own by picking a few elements or colors or what ever inspires you! Today we are lifting this amazing layout by Sindi.

I really, really loved everything about Sindi's layout, so I went for the "I'm going to copy it very, very closely because I love it so much" approach. Ha!

I started by printing my journaling directly on my cardstock, added a border strip at the bottom, then did some machine stitching to give a little texture to the background. I cut my patterned paper in shapes similar to what Sindi did, and also used just one small photo like she did. Next came the title, embellishment pieces and a few splatters of few mist and some pretty sequins scattered about.
See, quick and easy! I think the measuring to get my journaling to print in the correct place took most of the time, and I may have used my blow dryer to help the mist dry quickly, but it was less than 30 minutes from start to finish. It's another layout complete and another memory to add to the album!

How about playing along with our Scraplift Sunday Challenge at Paper Issues?
You could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!!
there is an album for all of February's challenge entries.
I would love to see your scraplift!

There's a new challenge this month at Paper Issues called Ad-spiration!
This is going to be a favorite of mine for sure, use the ad as inspiration for your layout.
It can be the design, the colors, what ever the ad inspires you to make!
Here's the ad, don't you just love that swirl!

And here's my layout, using Pink Paislee's Wild Child Boy collection, and the fabulous Exclaim It! cut file that you can download for FREE  right HERE in the Paper Issues store.
I love how this one turned out, the cut file adds so much texture and color!

I'm pretty good about staying current on the kids' school albums, but I like to scrap each year's school photo for our family albums too, so off to the family album this one goes, 8 years later. Hey, at least it's scrapped! Now it's just grade 6 that's left and I'll be all caught up up except his senior photos! Yay! Go me!

Be sure to check out all the new challenges over at Paper Issues, there are so many to choose from!

Our Favorite Place - This or That Challenge

There's a new challenge this month over at Paper Issues called This or That, and you need to play along! You'll love it, I promise. Just pick either This or That from the list, either or, but not both.
Here's the list, I highlighted what I used on my project.

Thickers or Alpha Stickers
Cut File or Punched Shape
Enamel Dots or Sequins
Hand Journaling or Typewriter Journaling
Wood Veneer or Acrylic Embellishments
Frame or Tag
Thread/Twine or Ribbon
Nuvo Drops or Mist
Clip or Flair Button
Washi or Stickers

I may have cheated a little with my wood veneer, using the chopsticks instead of a scrapbooking embellishment made from wood veneer, but I say they're wood, so they work!

I used a mix of different collections on this one, but I love how they all go together so well. And they do highlight my chopsticks rather nicely! ha!

Pick your This or That items from the list and play along  HERE in the Paper Issues {friends & fans} facebook group. You'll find all the February challenges that you can take part in, and you could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!

It's Scraplift Sunday over at Paper Issues and today we're lifting Amanda!
Here's Amanda's layout:

And here's what I came up with! I loved the circle design on Amanda's Paper, so I used that as inspiration to stitch a circle for my new year's eve "countdown".

There's a mix of things on this one, some new, some from my stash, but I love them all together!

Have you played along with Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues??  You should! It's such an easy and fun way to complete a layout in no time at all.

Time With You - January Issue!

Round two of New Issue Monday is up on the Paper Issues blog today! This month's theme is all about the New Year, New Ideas, or anything goes; share any project you like.  I went with the anything goes category, and scrapped a photo and story about spending the afternoon with my girlie at our favorite cafe, and her favorite place for oreo ice cream.

I used bits and pieces from Pink Paislee's Wild Child and Turn the Page collections. I love how they mixed together so well!

The frames work for not only my photo but to add embellishments to too!
I finished it off with a splattering of mist and some sequins.

Be sure to check out the Paper Issues blog for even more inspiration!

It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues, and I'm playing along with the challenge too!  Here's Kelly's original layout...

And here's my scraplift...

I followed pretty close to the same design using the Turn the Page collection by Pink Paislee.  I included 2 photos, scraps of paper at the top and bottom of the layout, my title at the bottom, and some stars scattered here and there.

Scrap Soup - Cowboy Country

The January Scrap Soup Challenge is up on the Paper Issues blog!
I played along too using the Cowboy Country collection by Carta Bella, and the Howdy, Cowboy cut file that is available for FREE in the Paper Issues store.

I loved this collection as soon as I saw the papers and stickers! I may have even ordered doubles on some of the papers ;)  We definitely live in cowboy country, and I definitely have the photos! This was one of those quick "grab your phone" moments as the sun was setting and my son was watching the horses in the field.

I mixed the stickers in with pieces I cut from some of the patterned paper, and then layered them over the wagon wheel cut file. Download it for FREE here. Perfect embellishments to use together!!

Here's the Scrap Soup recipe with list of ingredients, I'd love for you to play along with the challenge too, you could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store!!
